Correct view of the US immigration restriction proclamation following the COVID-19 Outbreak

On April 22, President Donald Trump signed an immigration restriction proclamation to suspend new green cards. This is to reduce employment tensions in the context of the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic.

This proclamation is valid for 60 days and directly affects all applications for permanent residence cards or green cards, except for medical professionals, military members, and people involved in executive or national security.

The suspension and limitation on entry pursuant of this proclamation shall not apply to:

• United States lawful permanent residents
• Doctors, nurses or health care professionals come to the United States to carry out anti-Covid-19 work; as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their respective designees; and any spouse and unmarried children under 21 years old of any such alien who are accompanying or following to join the alien;
• Any alien applying for a visa EB-5;
• Spouse of US worker
• Any alien who is under 21 of U.S. citizens, or prospective adopters, seeking to enter the United States through the IR-4 or IH-4 Visa program.
• Any alien who is important for US law enforcement; as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their respective designees.
• Any member of the U.S. armed forces and accompanying spouse / children.
• Any alien seeking to migrate under SI or SQ Visa classification.
• Any alien who benefits the nation; as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their respective designees.
